Teaching and Assessment
This lesson was based on the phonological awareness standard. It began with me going over letter sounds, letter shapes, and tricky words with the students. I believe that the objectives were almost met. I say that because while some students understood the lesson, many struggled meeting the phonological standards for their age. Having students simultaneously answer questions did not work very well for the lesson. That method of instruction caused more chaos and bickering so that it was hard to teach the lesson and use technology. Calling on individual students worked best because I was able to use behavior as a motivation for calling on them. Having them come to the board and use the interactive settings to write letters and trace words was a great way to utilize technology while getting the students to practice writing and sounding out tricky and normal words.
